Job Duties:

• Perform tasks assigned by the supervisor, which may vary depending on crop ripening and weather conditions.
• Harvest and pack watermelons from June to July.

Watermelon Hand Harvesting:

• Walk down field rows and use a knife to cut ripe watermelons off the vine.
• Load watermelons onto a bus through an assembly line, where workers pass, catch, and lift watermelons until they are stacked on the bus.

Watermelon Packing:

• Unload watermelons from the bus at the packing shed.
• Sort, label, and pack watermelons in cardboard containers.
• Assemble cardboard containers while waiting for the next load.

Field Drivers:

• Drive buses to the fields for harvesting and back to the packing shed.
• Ensure safety and precaution when driving and operating farm equipment and vehicles.

Equipment and Vehicle Operation:

• Drive and operate various agricultural equipment, such as field trucks, tractors, semi-trucks, and forklifts.
• Follow all safety requirements and keep vehicles free of trash.
• Only licensed drivers are permitted to operate farm equipment and vehicles.

All harvesting, packing, and transporting tasks are performed on the farm as part of the watermelon farming operation.

• Special Requirements:
  • Must be responsible and consistent.
  • Able to lift 0-75 lbs, do repetitive movements, extensive pushing and pulling, walking, frequent stooping, and work in all weather conditions.

Work Schedule: 7:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
