Vegetable Planting, Harvesting, Packing, and Field Work

Number of Workers Needed: 120

Job Duties:

Workers will do tasks given by the supervisor. Tasks will change based on crop readiness and weather. The vegetable season lasts from July to November.

Pepper and Jalapeno Harvesting:

• Walk down the field with a bucket.
• Bend down, pick ripe peppers, and put them in the bucket or bags.
• Take full buckets or boxes to the truck.
• Give them to the truck loader, who empties them into bins.
• Get an empty bucket or box and repeat.

Cucumber Harvesting:

• Walk with a bucket or box.
• Pick ripe cucumbers and put them in the bucket or box.
• Some cucumbers may go into bags or cartons first.
• Take full buckets or boxes to the truck.
• Give them to the truck loader, who empties them into bins.
• Get an empty bucket or box and repeat.

Squash and Eggplant Harvesting:

• Walk with a box.
• Pick ripe squash or eggplant using a knife.
• Put them in the box.
• Take the full box to the truck.
• Get an empty box and repeat.

Cabbage Harvesting:

• Walk down the field.
• Cut ripe cabbage with a knife and put them in a box.
• Cabbage may be wrapped in plastic before boxing.
• Take the full box to the truck.
• Get an empty box and repeat.

Tomato Harvesting:

• Walk down the field.
• Pick ripe tomatoes by twisting and pulling.
• Put them in boxes.
• Take the full box to the truck.
• Get an empty box and repeat.

Tomatillo Harvesting:

• Walk down the field.
• Pick ripe tomatillos by twisting and pulling.
• Put them in bags, then in a box.
• Take the full box to the truck.
• Get an empty box and repeat.

Field Drivers:

• Drive farm vehicles to the field.
• Load crops onto the vehicle.
• Drive back to the packing shed.
• Unload crops onto a belt.
• Repeat.

Equipment and Vehicle Operation:

• Drive and operate farm equipment like trucks, tractors, and forklifts.
• Follow safety rules.

• Special Requirements: Be responsible and consistent. Must lift 0-75 lbs, walk, bend, and stoop all day in any weather.

• Work Schedule: 7:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.
