Vacancy: Regulatory and Data Protection Lead

Job Purpose

The Regulatory and Data Protection Lead assists in coordinating regulatory functions to ensure compliance with the OpCos Strategic Action Plan.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Extraction of Call Detail Records and Airtel Money Statements – Court Attendance

  • Attend court to provide expert witness evidence on Call Detail Records.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory Service Level Agreements for timely extraction of Call Detail Records.

2. Support to Data Protection Officer

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and address issues.
  • Serve as point of contact for data subjects and supervisory authority.
  • Maintain records of all data processing activities.

3. Support to Internal Stakeholders on Regulatory Matters

  • Ensure customer-facing departments meet Service Level Agreements for complaint resolution.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance to minimize fines and penalties.
  • Assist Commercial team with product/service/tariff approvals and amendments.
  • Develop and maintain compliance checklists monitored by key stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update regulatory complaints tracker.

4. Regulatory Support for External Matters and License Processing

  • Coordinate and respond to customer complaint investigations escalated from regulators.
  • Obtain and renew necessary business licenses promptly.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications & Skills

  • First degree in Law, Business, or related field, with emphasis on ICT law and regulations.
  • Master’s degree (relevant) preferred.
  • Qualified Legal Practitioner with Valid Practicing Certificate from Zambia Institute Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Strong report writing skills.

Relevant Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in law and regulatory practice with strong administrative and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of telecoms business.

  • Professional communication skills across all management levels.
  • Demonstrated high integrity.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet critical deadlines.
