Job Description:
St. Mary’s General Hospital, part of Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN), is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room. WRHN is dedicated to improving the health and care experience by providing excellent services across the Waterloo-Wellington region.

As an Operating Room RN, you will work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, providing holistic care to patients of all ages. You will be part of a team that coordinates and provides excellent patient care during surgical procedures. This role requires critical thinking, strong nursing skills, and the ability to support patients and their families through surgical care.

Responsibilities:
Provide and coordinate patient care in the Operating Room.
Work closely with other medical professionals to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
Develop individualized care plans for patients before, during, and after surgery.
Offer emotional support and education to patients and their families about surgical procedures and recovery.
Maintain high standards of care and adhere to practice guidelines from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Monitor and manage patients during surgical procedures, ensuring safety and comfort.
Be accountable for your actions and provide quality care at all times.
Position Requirements:
Education: Graduate of a Registered Nurse program approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Certifications:

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Registration: Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Experience:

Minimum one (1) to two (2) years of experience in an acute care hospital.
At least two (2) years of experience in operating room duties such as scrubbing and circulating in surgical specialties (e.g., cardiac, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology).
Skills:

Ability to assess and manage complex, acutely ill patients.
Strong judgment and decision-making skills based on research and clinical evidence.
Competency in nursing skills related to the operating room environment.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
Experience with medical technologies and electronic documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Certifications:

Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN(c)) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Additional Skills:

Strong commitment to continuous learning and improving nursing practice.
Acute care clinical experience in your area of specialty.
