Job Duties:

• Crop Inspection: Participate in the inspection of harvested crops and inform the Foreman of crop progress. Inspect crops to assess quality and record information about harvested crops.
• Packaging Review: Establish and follow a packaging review system to ensure harvested products meet company standards in quality and appearance.
• Sticker Assignment: Assign identification stickers to each respective harvester and ensure accurate tracking of all crates placed on the harvest trailer.
• Crate Inspection: Inspect crates brought by harvesters, evaluating appearance and packing quality. May require harvesters to re-pack crates and pick the correct fruit color as needed.
• Crate Cleanliness: Ensure crates are clean and of the correct type, and that the employee’s sticker is on the crate.
• Random Inspections: Conduct random inspections of individual baskets as time permits.
• Electronic Scanning: Use electronic handheld devices to scan crates once they pass quality inspection and direct employees on where to stack crates.
• Crew Support: Assist the crew leader with completing electronic forms as necessary and report recurring issues to the Foreman.
• Trailer Management: Arrange the trailer with required boxes for harvest, operate tractors or trucks to move the trailer, and prepare the trailer for the next day by picking up debris and excess material.
• Crate Handling: Stack crates on pallets, label, and prepare them for delivery to the cooler.
• Communication: Inform the truck driver of variety differences and open boxes of baskets, crates, etc., as needed.
• Safety and Compliance: Attend monthly Safety and HR meetings, comply with all mandatory training required by State and Federal Labor Laws, and follow all hygiene and food safety policies.
• Sanitization: Prepare Clorox solution for sanitizing work areas.

Job Requirements:

• Experience: Yes, minimum of 3 months working as a Strawberry Puncher.
• Color Vision: Cannot be color blind due to the need to distinguish colors of crops for proper ripeness and maturity.
• Prohibited Substances: No smoking, illegal drugs, alcohol, or weapons of any sort in the housing or work fields.
• Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English or Spanish is required for training and safety purposes.
• Work Conditions: Work is performed outdoors in open fields with exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other elements. Temperatures can range from 50°F to over 90°F. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear.
