Position Description: The Physics Education Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is looking for a Physics Postdoctoral Instructor. This role provides a special opportunity to closely collaborate with faculty and staff. You will contribute to creating and delivering classes that are held partly on campus and partly online through the MITx platform. Your main tasks will involve introductory physics courses, including content editing and management, as well as providing support in the classroom. Depending on your interests, experience, and the department’s needs, there may also be opportunities for teaching and educational research, with the potential to advance to the position of lecturer.

Requirements:

  • PhD in physics or a related field
  • Experience with LaTeX
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, including with faculty
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Willingness to learn new skills

Beneficial Skills:

  • Background in quantitative educational research
  • Familiarity with learning or course management systems, especially Canvas
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, XML, or CSS
  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Premiere
  • Knowledge of instructional design or course development
  • Interest and/or knowledge in Artificial Intelligence in educational contexts
