Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Mental Health and Wellness Team (MHWT) at NELFT. This is a permanent, full-time position in the secondary care adult mental health psychology service. The role involves psychological assessments and interventions, as well as offering consultation and supervision to psychologists and multi-disciplinary teams.

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in multidisciplinary working, who has experience working with clients facing significant mental health challenges. The successful candidate will join a supportive and dynamic team that provides outpatient psychological therapy to adults with complex needs. The team employs evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Compassion-Focused Therapy, CBT, EMDR, and Schema-Focused Therapy.

Main Duties

Provide a highly skilled psychological service to adults with secondary care (non-psychosis) mental health difficulties.
Deliver individual and group therapeutic interventions (including CBT).
Undertake psychological assessments, develop treatment plans, and offer psycho-education.
Manage and assess clinical risk, providing expert advice on psychological aspects of risk management.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to decision-making.
Offer consultation and advice to both psychology and non-psychology colleagues.
Provide training, supervision, and support to trainee psychologists and other mental health professionals.

The role offers a High Cost Area Supplement (15% of the basic salary) with a minimum of £4,313 and a maximum of £5,436 per year (pro-rata for part-time staff).

Person Specification

Qualifications
Essential:

Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
HCPC registration or eligibility
Desirable:

Post-doctoral qualification in further evidence-based interventions (e.g., CBT, MBT, EMDR, CAT)
Experience
Essential:

Experience in secondary care adult mental health NHS settings
Experience delivering specialist CBT interventions
Experience working within NHS multidisciplinary settings
Desirable:

Experience in teaching, supervision, or training of mental health professionals
Experience in delivering group therapy in secondary care settings
Psychometric testing skills
Skills
Essential:

Psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for complex clinical presentations
Consultation and supervision skills in secondary care NHS settings
Desirable:

Skills in auditing and evaluating care pathways
Experience in post-doctoral research within NHS settings
