Full-time permanent post: Band 7
Fixed-term, full-time post (maternity cover): Band 7
We are looking for a specialist audiologist, clinical scientist, or healthcare scientist with expertise in paediatric audiology. If you have a proven track record of delivering excellent clinical care and service development, we would love to hear from you. You must possess excellent communication skills and a passion for creative solutions to meet the needs of children and their families. You will be expected to work independently, with some involvement in community clinics, and develop specialist expertise in more complex clinics.

Main Job Duties

Provide a comprehensive audiology service within the broader department.
Carry out a range of diagnostic audiological tests.
Provide audiology assessments for children aged 0-18 across secondary and tertiary paediatric services.
Offer rehabilitation services for hearing-impaired children and adults, including training and supervising staff.
Conduct quality assurance activities, including audits and service evaluations.
Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary paediatric hearing services team.
Continuously update your professional knowledge and contribute to clinical developments in the department.

Job Description
As a training department, you will be expected to contribute to the training of junior staff, as well as pre-registration and specialist trainees (BSc and MSc level). There may also be opportunities for you to contribute to the Adult Rehabilitation or Vestibular Service.

You will need at least a BSc or MSc in Audiology or an equivalent qualification, along with STP (or equivalent) certification.

For those applying for the fixed-term post, internal applicants on permanent contracts can apply as a secondment, but you must have approval from your current line manager before applying.

Person Specification

Qualifications
Essential:

MSc in Audiology or equivalent (or an assessed study in Adult Rehabilitation Audiology at M-level)
Scientific Training Programme (STP) qualification (or equivalent)
State registration (or working towards eligibility)
Experience
Essential:

Significant experience in general audiology
Significant experience in adult rehabilitation, including non-routine cases
Significant experience in paediatric audiology
Experience in audit and service development
Desirable:

Experience in autonomous and unsupervised work
Experience in Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) Testing
Knowledge
Essential:

In-depth working knowledge of national standards, policies, professional guidelines, and recommendations
Theoretical and practical understanding of ear anatomy and physiology
Knowledge of hearing aids and processing strategies, as well as new audiology technologies
Skills
Essential:

Skills in both assessment and rehabilitation for adults and children
Proficiency in computer systems and good keyboard skills
Ability to communicate complex technical information to patients and carers clearly
Desirable:

Advanced skills in paediatric and adult auditory rehabilitation
Strong team leadership abilities
Advanced research skills
