Intro Physics Lecturer

The Engineering Fundamentals (EF) department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is looking for several enthusiastic and innovative Lecturers to join its first-year engineering program. These are full-time, non-tenure-track positions for 9 months, with the possibility to renew. The roles are available at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, depending on experience. There may also be opportunities for summer teaching and collaborative research in engineering education.

About the Position:

  • Location: University of Tennessee, Knoxville
  • Department: Engineering Fundamentals (EF)
  • Courses: Introductory physics or computing (e.g., Excel, MATLAB)
  • Program: Engage Program, which covers nine credit hours of first-year coursework for Tickle College of Engineering students.
  • Role: Teach, help with curriculum development, and support student success in engineering.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or physics
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to innovative teaching methods
  • Experience in first-year engineering or computing education
  • Relevant teaching or industry experience
  • Ability to foster an inclusive learning environment

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in engineering, computer science, or physics
  • Degrees in Engineering Education or Physics Education
  • Experience with student design projects
  • Knowledge of makerspace equipment, programmable robots, or development boards
  • For one position: Experience in web application development and administration
