The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, is looking for a full-time Instructor. This position will start on August 16, 2024. The job is for 9 months each year and involves teaching 8 courses during the academic year. The appointment is annual and may be renewed if approved by the Dean, if performance is satisfactory, if the department still needs the position, and if funding is available.
Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in physics, astronomy, or a related field is required. A PhD is preferred.
- Experience teaching introductory physics and astronomy at the university level is preferred.
- A strong commitment to teaching and enthusiasm for working with undergraduates is needed.
Responsibilities:
- Teach introductory astronomy and physics courses for both majors and non-majors.
- Participate in outreach events related to physics and astronomy.
