Job Description

Position: Full-Time Apple Picker and Field Worker
Number of Positions: 345

Job Duties:

  • Apple Picking:
    • Pick apples by hand from the ground, a ladder, or a motorized platform.
    • Use a harness, bucket, or bag to collect apples, carrying up to 60 lbs.
    • Place apples into wooden bins that hold about 25 bushels.
    • Be careful not to damage the apples or tree branches.
    • Check apples in bins and remove any that don’t meet quality standards.
    • Use a 10 ft. or 12 ft. ladder, which weighs up to 40 lbs.
  • Thinning:
    • Use clippers to remove some fruit from clusters to improve size and quality.
    • Identify and remove any misshapen or damaged fruit.
    • Do thinning work from the ground, a ladder, or a motorized platform.
  • Training:
    • Help improve apple tree yield and quality by performing tasks like tying limbs, clipping, and positioning branches.
    • Use a 10 ft. or 12 ft. ladder, which weighs up to 40 lbs.
  • Pruning:
    • Prune various types of apple trees using hand tools like shears, loppers, and saws.
    • Work from the ground, a ladder, or a motorized platform.
    • Remove broken branches, downward-growing branches, and dead wood.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: 3 months of experience with tree fruit.
  • Special Requirements: Must agree to random drug testing paid by the employer. Not passing or refusing the test will result in immediate termination.
  • Hours: 35 hours per week.
  • Schedule: 6:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.
