About the Role:
The Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics is offering several exciting research positions to help develop new medicines and treatments for future pandemics. You’ll be part of a world-class research team based at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity in Melbourne, Australia.
These positions offer a chance to contribute to solving one of the world’s biggest challenges – advancing therapeutics (treatments) to save lives during pandemics. The roles come with seven-year research packages, giving you the opportunity to focus on the research without having to spend too much time applying for grants.
You’ll have access to the University of Melbourne’s biomedical precinct, where you can work with top scientists and experts. The university is connected globally, giving you the chance to collaborate with researchers from all over the world.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to research focused on pandemic therapeutics.
Work on developing new treatments for pathogens (viruses and bacteria) that could cause future pandemics.
Collaborate with other scientists and teams from the Doherty Institute, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, and more.
Focus on areas such as bioinformatics, structural biology, immunology, mRNA technology, and organ models.
About You:
We are looking for outstanding researchers with:
An excellent track record in research or strong potential for leadership in research.
Expertise in any of the following areas:
Bioinformatics, AI, and Computational Biology
Structural Biology and Drug Development
Virology and Bacteriology (diseases caused by viruses and bacteria)
Immunology and Immunotherapies (including antibodies and nanobodies)
mRNA Technology
Model Systems like Organ Models or Animal Studies for Therapeutic Development
You could be an established researcher or an emerging star with great collaboration and leadership skills.
