About the Role:

We are looking for a Community Worker to join our team in Launceston. This part-time role involves providing essential support to individuals in the community, assisting them with a wide range of needs, including emotional, financial, health, housing, and recreational support. You will be a key part of helping clients live independently and meaningfully by coordinating services, creating educational programs, and fostering connections with other community resources.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assess and Support Clients: Interview clients to assess their needs and difficulties, and provide support and advice on various matters, including emotional, financial, and health-related issues.
  • Develop Programs: Plan, develop, and implement educational, training, and support programs for clients to help them build life skills and independence.
  • Liaise with Agencies: Coordinate with welfare and community service agencies, as well as other organizations, to refer clients for additional help or resources.
  • Monitor Progress: Track and report on the progress of clients, ensuring they are receiving the necessary support and services.
  • Community Engagement: Work with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private businesses to promote awareness of available community resources and services.
  • Family Support: Assist families, particularly those with children or individuals with disabilities, by providing education and care in various settings.
  • Supervise Support Workers: Oversee the work of support staff, especially those assisting probation and parole participants.
  • Prepare Reports: Write submissions for funding and resources, and provide reports to government bodies and other agencies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications: A Diploma or higher in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a community or human services role, preferably in disability services.
  • Skills: Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding: Knowledge of community development and social justice principles.
  • Licenses: A valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
  • Checks: NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Vulnerable People Check (or willingness to obtain).

Pay & Schedule:

  • Pay: $43.90 – $48.50 per hour.
  • Expected Hours: 24 hours per week.
  • Schedule: 8-hour shifts.
