Summary:
Purpose of the Role:
- Ensure residents at Marbryn Residential Home are the center of care.
- Help residents live their lives as they wish.
- Manage all aspects of care within the home.
- Work with other agencies and attend meetings to benefit residents.
- Administer medications.
Responsibilities:
- Manage residents’ property, such as medicine and cash.
- Use specialist equipment to help residents live as they wish. Report any issues and follow training protocols.
- Lead and manage the care home, making decisions in the absence of managers.
- Handle emergencies and lead in critical situations.
- Recognize and respond to changes in residents’ health and well-being.
- Make informed decisions independently and seek support when needed.
Care Worker Duties:
- Build strong relationships with residents to understand their needs and empower them.
- Be creative and inclusive in providing care.
- Act as a key worker for residents, participating in meetings and documenting their care.
- Administer and manage medications according to service policy.
- Support residents’ rights and encourage them to take informed risks.
- Promote independence and develop personal care plans with residents.
- Plan and implement activities based on residents’ needs.
- Help residents develop social skills and address any barriers to their goals.
- Explore new ways to support residents using their strengths and resources.
- Participate in discussions about residents’ well-being and how to support their goals.
- Assist with housekeeping and light meal preparation.
Communication and Relationships:
- Work with health and care professionals like social workers, nurses, and GPs.
- Build connections with family and community networks to help residents.
Training and Supervision:
- Commit to personal development and continuous learning.
- Attend training and team meetings to improve service and staff well-being.
- Register with the Care Council for Wales and follow professional codes of practice.
Safeguarding:
- Report any concerns about abuse of children or vulnerable adults.
Policies:
- Manage information according to data protection laws.
- Follow health and safety regulations and the home’s policies.
- Adhere to the home’s code of practice for administering medicines.
Special Circumstances:
- Complete DBS checks.
- Work unsociable hours, including weekends and bank holidays, on a rota basis.
- Be flexible to work at other service sites if needed.
