Job Duties:

CalVan Drivers:

1. Drive Cal Van over the road.
2. Pick up workers from housing sites/pick-up points and take them to work sites. Return them at the end of the day.
3. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Class B Physical exam and register as an FLCE driver. The employer covers costs for the California Driver’s License, Class B Physical Exam, and FLCE registration.

All employees, both H-2A and domestic, will have the chance to get a driver’s license and register as an FLCE driver voluntarily. These are not required before being hired, and no worker will be fired for not obtaining them. Drivers are paid for their driving time and for doing MSPA-related paperwork, fueling, and cleaning the vehicle. Drivers also tow a trailer with portable toilets.

Crew Leader:

• Assist with pre-harvest process and audits.
• Coordinate daily production.
• Record information about crops like pesticide use, yields, and costs.
• Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal workers during planting and harvesting.
• Inspect, grade, sort, store, and treat crops post-harvest.
• Inform farmers or managers about crop progress.
• Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine pesticide and fertilizer use.
• Record information about plants and growth.
• Maintain inventory and order materials as needed.
• Direct and monitor work crews for planting, weeding, or harvesting.
• Weigh crop-filled containers and record weights and other details.

• Special Requirements:
  • Must have 2 months of experience harvesting crops to prevent damage and injury, with written proof of experience.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, crouch, bend, reach, lift, and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to follow instructions from supervisors and managers.

Number of Hours Per Week: 35
Work Schedule: 6:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.
