Agricultural Equipment Operators

Job Overview:

• Location: Farm in various field locations
• Position: General Farm Worker

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Soil Preparation: Prepare soil and growth medium by hauling and spreading topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, lime, and other soil conditioners on sod grass and turf areas. Note: Only licensed managers handle herbicides/pesticides.
• Soil Management: Dig, rake, and screen soil.
• Irrigation: Fill tanks with water, handle irrigation equipment, and manage watering processes.
• Seeding and Planting: Sow grass seed, plant sod, and cut, roll, and stack sod.
• Farm Equipment Operation: Operate farm machinery to mow grass, plot fields, load and unload trucks, and use forklifts and sod cutters.

Additional Duties:

• General Agricultural Tasks: When sod work is not available, perform other general agricultural duties such as:
  • Building and equipment maintenance
  • Repairing fences
  • Plowing and mowing
  • Driving a water tank tractor to water crops
  • Occasionally operating other motor equipment

Qualifications:

• Instruction Following: Must be able to understand and follow oral instructions.
• Physical Ability: Must be physically capable of performing various manual tasks.
• Experience: Must have experience in operating farm equipment.

Education:

• Requirement: Sufficient education to follow oral instructions.

Work Location and Conditions:

• Environment: Work is performed outdoors in various field locations on the farm.
• Weather Exposure: Workers will be exposed to all temperature and weather extremes, including heat, rain, wind, cold, and dusty conditions.
• Hazards: Exposure to moving equipment, loud noises, wetness, dust, and fumes.
• Surfaces: Work involves walking on soft mud as well as hard and uneven surfaces.
